Coffee

Yesterday, for just one day,
I lost my way a little,
The tasks at hand were just too grand,
My failures just too present.

I looked around and saw a world,
Asking just too much,
I looked around and wondered how,
Just how I'd even make it.

Yesterday, for just one day,
I forgot how big the sky was,
I didn't see the morning light
and forgot to smell my coffee.

Yesterday, for just one day,
I thought I was alone.
I looked around and saw a world,
And couldn't find my place.

I see it, though, this morning,
What yesterday was missing,
I see it now, that great big sky,
And I can't wait for my coffee.

What do you wish someone had told you?

Dear Mom, Melody and Bethany,

I just taught a last flute lesson to a senior whom I will probably never see again.  Since it was our last time interacting with each other, I felt compelled to talk with her about college and life in general.  I told her many things "I wish someone had told me."  Though I know it's important for us to learn life lessons on our own and that hard or stressful times ultimately give us strength and tools for the future, I know it's still an interesting question to ponder.

So I ask, "What do you wish someone had explained to you when you were starting out? What have you learned that you would share with someone just graduating high school?

Instead of comments, maybe we could put our answers in the form of "new posts?"

Sincerely,
Terri

A Way to Connect and Learn

Dear Mom, Melody and Bethany,

I learn so much when I'm able to brainstorm with, ask questions, listen to, share with and bounce ideas of other women who are also searching for the same things I am (beauty, meaning, and a way through life that's filled with more joy and ease instead of habitual thinking and perpetual struggle).  Every time I have a conversation with my mom on the phone, I'm lifted up with ideas and motivation - some from her, some from me. From the little I know of you both, it seems like you might have a similar relationship?  I've always wanted to know you better - schedules and locations make that hard.  Would you like to join my mom and I, contributing to this blog just for the four of us? I was thinking it could be incredibly beneficial.  We have so much in common (we're related, we have similar religious backgrounds, we're women searching for beauty and meaning) and yet, we're all so different.  How powerful would it be if we could be inspired by each other's ideas, book recommendations, poetry, organization strategies and even questions or problems?  If you would be willing to hop on every once in a while and contribute an inspiration, seek advice or simply give a recommendation for something lovely that works in your life, we could all benefit and springboard from the input or feel valuable by offering our help.

What do you think?
Terri
